NEET-UG held on May 3 cancelled after Rajasthan paper leak, CBI probe ordered
NEET-UG 2026 Cancellation Confirmed
The NEET-UG 2026 exam, held on May 3, was officially cancelled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 12, 2026, following allegations of a paper leak originating in Rajasthan. This decision came after widespread protests and investigative findings from central agencies, ensuring transparency in the process.
Rajasthan Leak Details
Reports indicate the leak was centered in Sikar district, with Jaipur as a suspected printing hub, involving a “guess paper” that matched around 120 questions—including 90 from Biology and 30 from Chemistry—with the actual exam, covering roughly 600 out of 720 marks. Rajasthan’s Special Operations Group (SOG) initially probed a handwritten suggestion paper before the case escalated nationally.
CBI Investigation Ordered
The Government of India has handed the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough inquiry into the leak’s scope and any organized cheating. This follows similar past probes in states like Bihar, though the current focus is on Rajasthan’s role.
Re-exam Plans
NTA will announce new dates for the re-conducted exam soon, affecting lakhs of students nationwide. This step aims to restore faith in the system amid ongoing concerns over exam integrity.
