A sky full of magic in Mangaluru: Massive crowds, stunning displays at International Kite Festival
The International Kite Festival 2025 in Mangaluru, held on January 18 and 19 at Tannirbhavi Beach, has attracted massive crowds and showcased stunning displays of kites from various participants.
Highlights of the Festival
Participation: The festival features kite flyers from eight countries, including Thailand, Ukraine, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Estonia, Greece, and Sweden, alongside over 22 Indian kite flyers from states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Telangana.
Crowd Attendance: The event is expected to draw a large audience, similar to the previous festival in January 2020, which saw over 100,000 attendees. This year’s festival is organized for two days to manage the crowd better.
Activities: In addition to kite flying, there are opportunities for stage shows and photography, promoting a blend of creativity and cultural tradition. Night flying sessions are also scheduled between 7 PM and 8 PM on the first day.
The festival is organized by Team Mangalore, a non-profit group dedicated to promoting kite flying as a hobby. They have been conducting free kite workshops to engage the community and foster interest in this vibrant activity.
As the festival unfolds, it promises to be a memorable spectacle of color and creativity against the backdrop of Mangaluru’s scenic coastline.
