Anil Ambani Raided: ED Probes Over 35 Premises, 50 Companies, 25 People

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on over 35 premises linked to Anil Ambani and his group between July 24-25, 2025, involving around 50 companies and 25 individuals in Mumbai and Delhi. This operation is part of a probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) connected to an alleged Rs 3,000 crore loan fraud scam involving Yes Bank loans sanctioned to Reliance Anil Ambani Group (RAAGA) companies during 2017-2019.

ED suspects a well-planned and deliberate scheme to siphon or divert public money by cheating banks, shareholders, investors, and other public institutions.

The loans were allegedly granted with gross violations of bank policy, including back-dating of credit approval memorandums and improper due diligence.

There is an alleged quid pro quo arrangement where promoters of Yes Bank, including Rana Kapoor, reportedly received bribe payments to their personal or linked accounts just before loan disbursals to RAAGA companies.

The investigation also covers possible bribery and irregularities in sanctioning loans and financial misconduct linked to Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power, and other group entities.

The case follows various FIRs by the CBI and inputs from multiple financial regulatory agencies, such as SEBI, National Housing Bank, NFRA, and Bank of Baroda.

The broad probe highlights systemic lapses and deliberate manipulation by officials to favor the borrower (RAAGA). Former Yes Bank promoter Rana Kapoor and his family have been central figures in the alleged bribery.

Following the raids, shares of companies like Reliance Power and Reliance Infrastructure dropped by over 5%, reflecting market reactions to the allegations.

The ED’s investigation focuses on a large-scale financial irregularity and money laundering case involving Anil Ambani’s companies and Yes Bank loans, with extensive searches and questioning underway across multiple locations and entities.
