DGCA issues show-cause notice to Air India pilots
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued a show-cause notice to an Air India pilot over safety lapses on flights AI-357 and AI-358, involving a Boeing Dreamliner (VT-ANI).
The pilot accepted the aircraft despite repeated technical snags, smoke detection alerts, system warnings, and non-compliance with Minimum Equipment List (MEL) rules. Crews failed to assess the combined impact of multiple inoperative systems, violating Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) on decision-making and safety.
Pilots and Air India must reply within 14 days, or DGCA will proceed ex parte with enforcement under Aircraft Rules. This follows prior incidents, highlighting ongoing scrutiny of airline operations.
