Earthquake of 5.3 magnitude hits Assam’s Morigaon, tremors felt in Guwahati
An earthquake with a magnitude of approximately 5.3 struck near Morigaon in Assam, India, on February 27, 2025, at 2:25 AM local time. The epicenter was located about 9 km from Morigaon, at a depth of around 16 to 42 km depending on the source. Tremors from the quake were felt not only in Morigaon but also in Guwahati, Shillong, and other parts of Assam, as well as in neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, and China.
