Summit Announcement The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday, February 9, 2025, that Egypt will host an emergency Arab summit on February 27. The summit will address “new and dangerous developments” concerning the Palestinian cause.
Trump’s Proposal The summit comes in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to resettle Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, which has sparked outrage across the Arab world. Trump suggested “taking over” Gaza from Israel and transforming it into a “Riviera of the Middle East” after resettling Palestinians.
Rejection of Trump’s Plan Egyptian President Fatt el-Si and Jordanian King Abdullah II have rejected Trump’s proposal to resettle 1.8 million Palestinians residing in Gaza and for the U.S. to assume control of the territory.
