Goa night club fire deaths: Owners escape to Thailand, CBI to seek Interpol notice

A fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, killed 25 people—mostly staff and five tourists—late on Saturday night, December 6, 2025.​

The nightclub owners, brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, fled India hours after the blaze, boarding IndiGo flight 6E-1073 to Phuket, Thailand, at 5:30 AM on December 7. Goa Police discovered their absence during raids on their Delhi residence, where they left a notice, and issued a Look Out Circular too late to stop the departure; their swift exit suggests intent to evade investigation.​

An FIR was filed against the Luthras under sections for culpable homicide not amounting to murder (Section 105 BNS), endangering lives (125(a)(b) BNS), and negligent conduct with fire (287 BNS). Goa Police have contacted the CBI’s Interpol division to issue a notice and coordinate their apprehension in Thailand.​
