Indian Courts have accepted NotarEase: How notarisation in India has changed forever

Indian courts have widely accepted NotarEase, a pioneering online notarisation platform in India, marking a significant shift in how notarisation is done in the country. NotarEase, launched in 2023, allows users to notarise documents electronically via a digital platform without physical presence, overcoming traditional challenges in India like traveling to a notary or waiting in long lines.

NotarEase notarised documents such as affidavits, pleadings, and other legal papers have been accepted by major courts in India, including the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court, Bombay High Court, Karnataka High Court, and many district courts.

This acceptance has especially benefited Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) by eliminating the need for apostillation, embassy visits, or physical presence for notarisation.

The platform uses live video calls with licensed notaries registered under the Notaries Act, 1952, and the process is Aadhaar-based for verification.

Senior advocates and legal professionals have praised the service as a welcome innovation that simplifies and speeds up the notarisation process and improves access to justice, especially for clients abroad or those facing difficulties in traditional notarisation.

While legal acceptance is established, cultural and mindset shifts are still in progress, as some judges and advocates may initially distrust electronic notarisation without physical stamps.

NotarEase represents a major step forward in India’s legal tech space, parallel to other digital transformations like UPI in payments.

NotarEase has transformed notarisation in India by making it entirely digital and court-accepted, facilitating faster, easier, and more accessible legal document notarisation nationwide and globally for Indians.
