Multiple People Shot Near Toledo Community Street Festival; Police Launch Manhunt
A shooting near the annual Old West End Festival in Toledo left multiple people wounded on Saturday evening, triggering panic among festival-goers and a large-scale police response. Authorities confirmed that numerous victims were transported to nearby hospitals after gunfire erupted near the popular community event, while investigators launched a search for the suspect or suspects involved.
According to the Toledo Police Department, officers responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 5:37–5:40 p.m. local time in the vicinity of Delaware Avenue and Glenwood Avenue, close to the festival grounds. Upon arrival, police discovered several people suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately secured the area while emergency medical teams treated and evacuated the injured.
The number of victims has varied in early reports as the investigation continues. The Associated Press reported that at least 12 people were shot, with two victims in critical condition, while officials indicated that the incident may have involved at least two shooters who were targeting each other rather than indiscriminately attacking festival attendees.
Witnesses described scenes of chaos as rapid gunfire sent families and visitors running for cover. Videos circulating on social media reportedly captured multiple gunshots and people fleeing the area, although authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police, who already had officers deployed for the festival, responded almost immediately and began collecting evidence while searching for those responsible.
The Old West End Festival is one of Toledo’s best-known annual community celebrations, featuring live music, food vendors, arts, shopping, and tours through one of the nation’s largest historic districts. The violence disrupted what is traditionally a family-oriented event and raised fresh concerns about public safety at large gatherings.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid the affected area while the investigation remains active. As of the latest official updates, no arrests had been announced, and police continue to seek information regarding the suspect or suspects involved. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are expected to release additional details as they become available.
