Arrest of the Attacker: The Mumbai Police arrested the assailant, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national who had entered India illegally. He was apprehended on January 19 in Thane after a manhunt that involved tracking his mobile phone and analyzing CCTV footage from nearby locations.
Background of the Attacker: Shehzad had been living in Mumbai for approximately five to six months and was working with a housekeeping agency. To conceal his identity, he adopted multiple aliases, including Vijay Das and Mohammed Iliyas. Authorities confirmed that he does not possess any valid Indian identification documents.
Details of the Attack: The attack occurred around 2 AM when Shehzad broke into Khan’s apartment. Initial reports indicated that he also injured a family nanny during the incident. Following the attack, Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for surgery and is currently recovering well.
