Bering Air Flight: US plane goes missing midair over Alaska

On February 6, 2025, a Bering Air flight carrying 10 people disappeared from radar while flying from Unalakleet to Nome, Alaska. The missing aircraft was a commercial flight operated by Bering Air, carrying nine passengers and one pilot.

Search Efforts:

The Alaska State Troopers were contacted by the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center (AKRCC) at 4:00 p.m. regarding the overdue aircraft.

Search and rescue teams are working to reach the plane’s last known coordinates.

A ground search is underway to locate the possible wreckage of the plane.

The US Coast Guard is preparing to send a C-130 aircraft to survey the area, and the US Air Force is deploying air support from Elmendorf Air Force Base.

The Nome Volunteer Fire Department is conducting an active ground search from Nome and White Mountain.

Challenges:

Air support is currently unavailable due to weather and icing.

Due to weather and visibility, aerial search capabilities are limited.

Additional Information:

The aircraft’s last recorded position was tracked 38 minutes after departing from Unalakleet.

The public has been asked not to form independent search parties for safety reasons
