Trump’s 2025 Travel Ban: Full List of 12 Countries
President Donald Trump has issued a new proclamation in June 2025, imposing a comprehensive travel ban on nationals from 12 countries, citing national security and vetting concerns. The ban fully bars entry for most travelers from these nations, with some exceptions for diplomats, certain visa holders, and other special cases.
The 12 countries subject to a full entry ban are:
Afghanistan
Burma (Myanmar)
Chad
Republic of the Congo
Equatorial Guinea
Eritrea
Haiti
Iran
Libya
Somalia
Sudan
Yemen
The ban takes effect on Monday, June 9, 2025.
The White House cited high visa overstay rates, lack of cooperation in accepting deportees, and insufficient identity and threat information sharing as reasons for the ban.
Seven other countries—Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela—face partial restrictions, mainly affecting specific visa categories but not imposing a complete entry ban.
Full Entry Ban (12 Countries) | Partial Restrictions (7 Countries) |
---|---|
Afghanistan | Burundi |
Burma (Myanmar) | Cuba |
Chad | Laos |
Republic of the Congo | Sierra Leone |
Equatorial Guinea | Togo |

This policy marks a significant expansion of Trump’s earlier travel bans and revives a controversial approach to U.S. immigration and national security.
