Foreign ministers gather in New Delhi for BRICS meeting
Foreign ministers from BRICS nations and partner countries are gathering in New Delhi for a key two-day meeting on May 14-15, 2026, under India’s chairship.
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is chairing the high-level talks at Bharat Mandapam, marking the first major ministerial engagement of India’s 2026 BRICS presidency. This precedes the full BRICS Leaders’ Summit planned for September 2026 in New Delhi.
Prominent arrivals include Russia’s Sergey Lavrov, Iran’s Abbas Araghchi, Brazil’s Mauro Vieira, and representatives from South Africa, UAE, Indonesia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Thailand, Cuba, Malaysia, Maldives, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Chile, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria.
Discussions focus on West Asia tensions and their impact on global energy security, economic cooperation, multilateral reforms, Global South priorities, and geopolitical challenges. Delegations may also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the visit.
