Russia launches hundreds more drones at Ukraine, killing three people
Russia recently launched a major drone and missile barrage against Ukraine, targeting Kyiv and other areas, which killed at least three people and wounded around 40 others. Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, reported the assault involved over 670 drones and missiles since midnight, with ongoing rescue efforts at a damaged nine-story building.
The strikes hit Ukraine’s capital and communities, marking one of the largest recent escalations in aerial assaults. Among the wounded were two children, highlighting the civilian impact. This follows a pattern of intense Russian drone campaigns, such as earlier 2026 attacks with 324–700+ drones causing multiple fatalities across regions like Odesa, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia.
Ukraine’s Air Force has tracked similar large-scale drone launches, with Russia deploying hundreds nightly in some cases. Ukrainian forces have countered with their own drone operations, contributing to high Russian casualties, though mutual accusations of strikes persist. These events reflect ongoing tit-for-tat escalation in the conflict now in its fourth year.
