Retiring MP High Court Judge Avanindra Kumar Singh Pledges ₹1.01 Crore GPF to PM CARES, Also Donates Body for Medical Research
Madhya Pradesh High Court Justice Avanindra Kumar Singh, who retired on September 17 after 36 years of judicial service, has pledged to donate his entire General Provident Fund (GPF) payout of approximately ₹1.01 crore to the PM CARES Fund. He made the announcement during his farewell function at the High Court.
Justice Singh said the amount, calculated at about ₹1.01 crore by the court administration, would be donated after he receives it. He described the contribution as an effort toward “nation building” and said the decision represented the beginning of a new chapter after retirement.
The retiring judge also announced that he and his wife, Indira Singh, had pledged their bodies for donation to a medical college after their deaths. According to reports, the registration for the body donation was completed two days before his retirement and is intended to support medical education and scientific research.
Justice Singh said the idea of donating their bodies was suggested by his wife. He also credited her with suggesting that his retirement savings be directed toward the PM CARES Fund rather than being retained as family savings.
In his farewell address, Justice Singh spoke about using his post-retirement life for continued public service. He said retirement would not mark the end of his work but the start of a new phase in which he intended to continue contributing to society from a different platform.
Justice Avanindra Kumar Singh began his judicial career on May 31, 1990, as a Civil Judge Class II. He subsequently served in several judicial and administrative positions, including Principal District Judge of Chhatarpur and Dhar and Principal Registrar of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
He was appointed as a judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court on May 1, 2023, and retired on September 17, 2026. The High Court’s official profile records his judicial-service start date, appointment as High Court judge and retirement date.
The twin announcements—pledging his retirement GPF savings and registering for body donation—came as Justice Singh concluded a judicial career spanning more than three decades. His farewell remarks focused on public service, social contribution and the role of individuals in contributing beyond their formal professional responsibilities.
