TCS harassment case in Nashik

A recent sexual harassment case at TCS’s Nashik BPO unit involves serious allegations from eight women employees against senior staff, including claims of mental and sexual abuse, stalking, groping, and forced religious conversion (such as pressure to offer namaz or eat beef).

Case Origins

The scandal began with one woman’s FIR in late March 2026 at Deolali police station, accusing a colleague of rape under false marriage promises and influencing her religious practices; this expanded to nine FIRs after undercover police posing as housekeeping staff gathered evidence over weeks.

Nashik police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT), arresting seven people—including team leaders, Danish Shaikh, Tausif Attar, Shafi Shaikh, and HR assistant general manager Nida Khan—who allegedly ignored complaints despite POSH Act protocols.

TCS Response

TCS suspended all accused employees, reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy on harassment and coercion, and launched an internal probe led by COO Aarthi Subramanian, with full cooperation pledged to police. The Nashik unit shifted to work-from-home amid the fallout.

Key Allegations

  • Vulnerable recruits (often needing money or facing family issues) were targeted with financial profiling, derogatory religious remarks, and false compassion during training.

  • Specific acts included blackmail, forcing lifestyle changes (e.g., removing Hindu idols), and workplace misconduct like fixed staring or grabbing.
