Elon Musk loses lawsuit against OpenAI and Sam Altman
A federal jury rejected Elon Musk’s lawsuit against OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, finding his claims were time-barred under the statute of limitations and returning a verdict for Altman and OpenAI.
The jury concluded Musk waited too long to sue, so the court did not reach the substantive merits of his claims.
Musk had sought major remedies (including removal of Altman and limits on OpenAI’s corporate structure), but the jury’s statute-of-limitations ruling effectively ends that immediate threat to OpenAI.
