Iran Reviews US Proposal to End War as Pakistan Intensifies Mediation Push
Iran has confirmed that it is reviewing a fresh peace proposal from the United States aimed at ending the prolonged regional conflict, while Pakistan has stepped up diplomatic efforts to prevent a return to full-scale war. Iranian officials said the latest American proposal is under examination, even as major disagreements remain over Tehran’s nuclear program and regional security demands.
According to multiple reports, Pakistan has emerged as a key intermediary between Washington and Tehran. Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir is expected to participate in high-level talks in Tehran as Islamabad attempts to narrow differences between the two sides. Iranian media indicated that Pakistan’s mediation efforts are focused on reducing tensions and helping both countries move toward a formal understanding.
The negotiations remain fragile, however, with Iran reportedly refusing to send its enriched uranium stockpile outside the country — one of Washington’s key demands. Reports citing senior Iranian sources say Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has instructed that the country’s near-weapons-grade uranium must remain inside Iran, a move that could complicate ongoing diplomacy.
US President Donald Trump warned that diplomacy is “on the borderline” between success and renewed military confrontation, stating that the United States is prepared to act if negotiations fail. At the same time, Washington has indicated it is willing to allow a few more days for talks to continue.
The ongoing uncertainty has already affected global energy markets. Oil prices surged amid fears of disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical energy shipping routes. Analysts warn that any collapse in negotiations could trigger further instability across the Middle East and significantly impact global fuel supplies.
