Bajinder Singh, ‘Yeshu Yeshu Prophet’, sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018 rape case
Bajinder Singh, a self-styled pastor known as the “Yeshu Yeshu Prophet,” has been sentenced to life imprisonment in connection with a rape case from 2018. The verdict was delivered by a court in Mohali, Punjab, on April 1, 2025, following his conviction on March 28 for multiple charges under the Indian Penal Code, including rape (Section 376), causing hurt (Section 323), and criminal intimidation (Section 506).
The case originated from a complaint filed by a woman from Zirakpur, who alleged that Singh sexually assaulted her under the pretense of helping her relocate abroad. She also claimed that he recorded the assault and threatened to release the video if she did not comply with his demands. Following the sentencing, the victim expressed relief and gratitude towards the court, emphasizing the need for safety for herself and other potential victims.
Singh’s rise to notoriety began with his ministry, the Church of Glory and Wisdom, which he established in 2016 after converting to Christianity while incarcerated for a murder charge. He gained popularity through viral videos showcasing his purported miracle healings. However, his legal troubles have escalated, with multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment arising since his initial arrest in July 2018.
