No Supreme Court Advocate-on-Record exam for 2026
The Supreme Court of India has cancelled the Advocates-on-Record (AOR) examination scheduled for 2026. The decision stems from the current sufficient number of AORs practising before the court.
The Competent Authority reviewed the overall strength of AORs and determined no additional recruitment is needed this year. As of April 13, 2026, 3,791 AORs are registered with the Supreme Court.
The next AOR exam is likely in 2027, with dates to be notified later. AORs are the only advocates authorised to file cases in the Supreme Court under its rules.
