Trump ‘very angry’ with Putin over ceasefire negotiations

Trump ‘very angry’ with Putin over ceasefire negotiations

Donald Trump has expressed significant frustration and anger towards Russian President Vladimir Putin over the ongoing ceasefire negotiations in Ukraine. In a recent interview with NBC News, Trump stated he is “very angry” and “pissed off” at Putin, particularly in response to the Russian leader’s comments questioning the legitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump’s remarks come amid a backdrop of stalled negotiations for a ceasefire, with Putin suggesting a transitional government in Ukraine, which Trump criticized as “not heading in the right direction.” He warned that if an agreement to halt violence is not reached, he would impose secondary tariffs on all oil exported from Russia, potentially affecting nations like China and India that purchase Russian oil.

This marks a notable shift in Trump’s rhetoric, as he has previously been criticized for being overly accommodating towards Putin. He indicated that if he believes Russia is responsible for the lack of progress in negotiations, tariffs could range from 25% to 50% on Russian oil imports. Trump’s comments reflect growing impatience with the situation, as he has pressured Zelenskyy for concessions while previously maintaining a positive tone towards Putin.

Despite his anger, Trump emphasized that he still maintains a “very good relationship” with Putin and suggested that his frustrations could dissipate if the Russian president takes appropriate actions regarding Ukraine.
